Fourth graders play recorders in music class from the end of October until their March concert. We use recorders, in addition to singing and playing other instruments, to continue to review and learn music concepts.
Much of our fourth grade music time includes playing the soprano recorder. This page will give you hints for playing recorders and answer questions you might come up with.
If you would like songs to play (either new ones or the ones we've worked on in class), go to the Recorder Songs page. "When Do I Have Music?"Our schedule includes days 1-6, but those days move around every time we have a no school day. You will need your recorder on your music days.
When we start playing recorder, Mrs. St. Germain will try to keep this schedule up to date!
"How Can I Clean My Recorder?"
After you have washed your recorder, let it air dry on a towel overnight. Wash your recorder every couple weeks, or definitely every month. If you are sick, it would be a good idea to wash your recorder when you are healthy again. |
"Why Is My Recorder So Squeaky?"Sorry to tell you, but most of the reason your recorder is squeaky is... you! BUT that means it will be much easier to fix!! Check out these reasons.
